Noticing Winter’s Wisdom:
Inviting Personal Renewal in God’s Love

Friday, February 12th through Sunday, February 14th

One month into the busy semester, and just before Lent begins, come experience a variety of ways of slowing down to gently listen to yourself, inviting inner quiet in the midst of a respectful, encouraging community of fellow students.  This allows each of us to deepen connections between who we are and what we do.  These practices, which help us rejoin “soul” and “role,” are preventive of burnout – and antidotes when it arises.  They also help students integrate the university experience and thrive!

This retreat uses multiple sources including scripture, multimedia, and poems to help invite you deepen connections to your real self and your God. You’ll be introduced to a range of contemplative practices – some ancient, some new – all creating spaces that invite the soul to make itself known.  And there is definitely time to experience respite, with options for rest, forest walks, winter fun, hearty healthful meals, and time gathered around a roaring campfire.  This includes an option for Sunday Mass. All held at the Sisters of Notre Dame comfortable and cozy retreat house in Chardon, OH – surrounded by hundreds of acres of forest, ponds, sloping meadows, and orchards.

Your Life Is Calling - CWRU Second Year Experience

In November 2009 as well as January and February 2010, there will be several "Last Lectures," reflective options, and mini- immersions that reflect the purposes and processes of Your Life Is Calling.
  • The response will help gauge the desire to participate in similar activities during 2010- 2011, and invite first year students to consider this living-learning option for their second year.
  • This will gather a cohort of first year students to apply together in late February 2010 for housing in 2010-2011 in the Carton Road complex.
  • A Steering Committee will be appointed in the Spring of 2010 to design the initial program for 2010-2011.
