Newman partners with nearby Holy Rosary (in Little Italy) for Sunday Masses: join hundreds of students there each weekend during the academic year! Many of these students go to the Sunday 8 PM Mass, with a Newman-sponsored reception afterwards during the academic year. From the Northside of campus, Holy Rosary is a closer walk than the Science Quad!
Walk To Mass With Other Students: The first few weeks of the fall semester, we offer our “Roamin’ Catholics” program: walk to and from Holy Rosary with other students, by meeting 20 minutes before Mass at either the “helicopter statue” at Juniper on Northside, or at the base of the “elephant stairs” on Southside. But with hundreds of students going to Mass each weekend, just start walking and you are bound to find other students streaming to Mass, too!
Some students prefer to go to Mass elsewhere, like St. Ann's or St. John's cathedral, or even the Veterans Administration hospital chapel here in University Circle. Check out the list below for local Masses, some in other languages, some with particular ethnic backgrounds, and in nearby monasteries, too. There are so many ways to experience the Mass in Cleveland, just a bus or rapid ride away!
On campus a few times each year, Newman has Mass on Sundays and Holy Days, prayer services like Ash Wednesday (with over 300 people!), and the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Also, Newman offers a weekday “Teaching Mass” on campus a few times each year, for a deeper understanding of the Mass. All invited to experience this worship – some bring friends who simply wonder what Mass is like. To find out about any of these special events, please be sure to join our email weekly newsletter list by contacting our campus minister.
